Doctor Sweet Tooth Transitioning to "Paraben Free"

We recently removed the preservative, germaben II, from our oil-based sugar scrubs. While the FDA still considers parabens to be safe for use in cosmetic products, the increased consumer demand for "paraben free products" motivated us to elimintate them from our formulations. Most of our products have always been paraben free, and in the next couple of weeks we will be removing parabens from our shower gels, bubble baths, and lotions. Our new bubble baths and shower gels will also be free of sulfates. We will announce when the change-over has occurred. As of right now, parabens have been removed from our the oil-based body and foot scrubs.

It's That Time of Year Again!

Every year just after Halloween I get the "Christmas Itch"! It has been my favorite time of the year since I was a wee little kid. My family followed certain traditions that I carry on with my family today.

By far my favorite tradition is baking Christmas cookies! Starting in November, I try to bake at least 1 different type of cookie once a week and once December hits I step it up, sometimes baking a different cookie everyday! I save them all in the freezer (minus the ones that I "taste test") and bring them out starting on Christmas Eve. They normally last through New Years. I will try to post pictures of the cookies as I bake them this year (along with my "secret" recipes).

I also LOVE decorating our house for Christmas. We put up our tree early, often before Thanksgiving, and take it down LATE (March-ish :). We figure, why take it down early, when it takes so long to get it set up. Besides, it looks so pretty all lit up! I have been collecting ornaments for years now and have quite an extensive collection. I will post a picture of our tree once it is set up.

And, yes, that is me in the picture above. I was the first born as well as the "only daughter" and was quite spoiled; especially at Christmas! Every year my family drove up from North Carolina to western Pennsylvania to spend the holidays with my extended family (which at the time was quite large; hence the reason why I am surrounded by toys). I am not sure if I enjoyed being dressed up as Miss Claus. I will have to ask my mom about that :)

New Labels (AGAIN!) at Doctor Sweet Tooth!

With the holiday season fast approaching, we decided to make yet another change to our labels! With many of you ordering gifts for the holidays, we felt that it would be helpful to your gift recipients to add the scent names to the front of our labels (something that we have not done in the past). These new 'milk bombs' combine the benefits of regular bath bombs with those of a milk bath. Milk contains an alpha hydroxy acid called 'lactic acid'. You have probably heard of getting lactic acid peels from your dermatologist or spa. This is because lactic acid acts as a gentle exfoliant, helping to remove dead cells from the surface of your skin. Exfoliation is the key to healthy supple skin. Like my standard bath bombs, these also contain sweet almond oil and cocoa butter which act as gentle moisturizers for your skin. However, a large portion of this bomb is made of powdered milk. You will get the fizzing action of a regular bath bomb with the added benefit of lactic acid. I recommend soaking for about 20 minutes to allow the milk to work its magic. Your skin will feel very soft afterwards and with regular use you will notice an even greater result! Well, about 14 months have passed using the same label design, and after much thought I decided to make some changes!
